I prefer a style that empowers the students to take ownership of their work so they will become better thinkers and writers. I prefer discussion-based learning opposed to "lecture-style" teaching where I can interact freely with the student as a peer-tutor. More specifically, I like to use white boards and visual aids in sessions.
I have worked in Cedarville University's Writing Center as a tutor for two years. At the most basic level we're invited to become aware of and be present with our surroundings, dive deeper into life, and embrace the beauty of it all by writing about it. I absolutely love to write. I've been a professional tutor throughout the entirety of my collegiate marathon--a lengthy 5.5 years--and have worked with a variety of different students on thousands of diverse papers. I began my career as a high school teacher teaching grades 9-12. My engagement with students at this level was highly satisfying; I loved teaching this age group speech and drama courses.
