After completing my education at Brigham Young University-Idaho in the spring of 2003, I was hired to work as an aid at the school where I had done my student teaching. During this year, I worked with students in reading and math lab classes which were designed to help students who were struggling to achieve proficient scores on their ISAT's. I then was hired as a teacher and taught for the next two years in the subjects of reading lab, literature, and language arts. I worked with 6th through 8th grade students, and enjoyed each age and the challenges that come with that time in a student's life. I have been a teacher and tutor for a few years. I taught in a high school English and Music. Right after I graduated High school I was asked to help struggling students and teach a bit when the teacher was gone. Also I have worked in Elementary schools I have taught lessons at least once a week. I have been in teaching methods classes and I have take Education psychology. I have also been able to in three months encourage students to improve grades that are at a 50% low to a 90-100% high. I've gained experience with teaching in an array of ways. Firstly, I'm a recent graduate from BYU-Idaho in Piano Performance earning my Bachelor of Musical Arts. I have a strong interest in the sciences of the world. I earned a bachelor degree in ecology including a minor in botany. I also earned a Master degree in biology studying mountain quail. During my undergraduate and graduate education I participated in the GK-12 program as a scientist in residence. I spent 20 hours a week in the middle school and high school setting for two years. The purpose of the GK-12 program was to help increase scientific literacy in southern Idaho.
