I have a relaxed teaching style that makes my students feel comfortable and interested in learning. I believe I transfer my passion for my subject to my students. I am able to draw on my extensive work and “real-world” experience, which students seem to appreciate. I have an informal manner, yet I expect much of my students. Having earned my college degrees as an adult, I am particularly interested in assisting adults in achieving their educational goals. I taught GED Preparation courses for seven years at the local Adult Education Program and assisted approximately 30 students in obtaining their GED. English and math were the main subject matter for these tests and study/test taking skills were reviewed. In my current position as the Executive Director of a local human service organization, I have flexibility in my schedule to meet the needs of a student.

My teaching career began in 1972, as the first elementary school teacher in a system that had not hired male teachers in many, many years. I taught all subjects to fifth graders for 11 years. My strength lies in teaching English. In 2008, I taught ESL for one semester to people from different countries, but primarily Brazil, twice a week. In 2009, I taught English to grades 8, 9, 11, and 12 at a public school in Namibia, Africa. I taught English for 5 to 6 hours a day to students who possessed different levels of comprehension. My career changed in 1982 when I became a residential real estate agent and stayed in this field for 27 years. A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored students privately in subjects ranging from languages to math since 2001. One student has continued French lessons four hours a week every summer for five years. I completed a one-year French as a foreign language course in Martinique. I have taught several French for Beginners adult classes. I substitute teach at the local schools, and cover all ages and subjects (some of which I am more qualified for than others, and in the event I am less qualified, I let the students teach me what they know).
