I have a Bachelors and Masters in Elementary Education. I have been a substitute teacher for 6 years. I currently work for Fort Knox Community Schools as a long term substitute teacher. I fill in for the maternity leaves, sicknesses and emergency cases. I am a perferred substitute. In addition, I have tutoring experience. I believe each student can learn and it’s my responsibility to find how each one learns best. So much of it is about instilling confidence in the student that he or she is intelligent and capable of mastering the subject. I have been very successful at this and have often had short tutoring assignments: once we discover what is keeping a student from grasping the subject, fixing it is easy and then the student can proceed on their own with or without the help of a parent. The younger the student, the more I appreciate having the parent involved in what I am doing, and the results we are achieving, so they can actively participate with their child, especially once I am no longer needed.

As a graduate with a Master's Degree in Elementary Education and a Rank I in Computer Education, I fill that I am highly qualified for this position. I have taught reading from various grade groups ranging from kindergarten on up to fourth grade. I have taken struggling fourth graders who were reading on first grade level and brought them up to their grade level. The instructor must become one with the student and understand them on their level. Once you can see eye to eye with your students, then you can begin to help them learn and grow.
