This program worked with several schools in the Rochester, NY area to provide in school and after school tutoring and teaching assistance to children grades 6-12. I specialized at one school, Hope Hall in Gates, NY, where I worked with students who had a variety of learning challenges. I assisted students with subjects such as: English, Spanish, French, math, language arts, science and social studies. While teaching in a classroom environment, it is difficult to give all the students the individual attention that's needed. It is often that I can help a student get over a small hurdle, but afterward the student is reluctant to take up more time to ask another question while others are having problems and waiting. I've found that while tutoring I can sit alongside a student and work through problems completely, and with just a few more minutes, can give students that need it a greater understanding of the concepts as well as the tools needed to problem solve.

My teaching style is Socratic in method. I have learned a large variety of techniques to help teach some of the most basic to the most advanced concepts to a large audience of students. I like to mold my teaching style to fit with each individual student. As a teacher of special-needs and emotionally handicapped children, I have learned techniques that make me a formidable teacher in any environment, so long as I am familiar with the material.
