Upon earning my International Baccalaureate diploma in high school, I immediately decided teaching music was what I wanted to do. I attended the University of South Carolina and performed in many professional music ensembles including: USC Orchestra, USC Wind Ensemble, USC Symphonic Band, USC Percussion Ensemble, Palmetto Pans and I also performed and a recorded a full length album with a band that was voted best in Columbia, SC. In 2004 and 2005 I marched with the Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps and greatly enhanced my teaching, playing and performing abilities. My teaching style is very much like my personality. I am goal oriented and I like to help students set goals and see them achieve them. I don't try to teach beyond my ability, but I do bring out the drive in students to succeed. I try to make learning fun and I am creative in my efforts. As a successful learner, I studied education in college. I graduated in four years with a 4.0 grade point average in the Education Department. I student-taught in a first grade classroom at Springfield Elementary School. The following school year, I was hired at Springfield as a Kindergarten teacher.
