I love working with children. I especially love teaching them about science and mathematics because I find these subjects so interesting. There are few things more rewarding then seeing it all "click." I like to use diagrams and real life situations to explain subjects. Breaking things down into laymen's terms and reducing intimidation by putting things simply helps most students to grasp difficult topics. I'm a pretty good artist and like drawing diagrams. I graduated with a 4-year degree in Mech. Eng. in 1997. I was very successful for the next 12 years, in various positions. In 2009, I changed to the IT field. As an engineer and thereafter, I mentored many friends, colleagues, and friends of friends with computers. I am familiar with MS Windows, but I plan to learn about MAC PCs soon. I know I can help any user find a better way to operate the computer. I have read reference books and software manuals to educate myself on technology. I student-taught in a first grade classroom at Springfield Elementary School. The following school year, I was hired at Springfield as a Kindergarten teacher. I develop lesson plans for all subject areas with a strong focus in reading and phonics. I feel that a strong knowledge of phonics allows for the students to successfully read independently.
