I have a lot of experience tutoring elementary children, ages 6-11. I have a bit of experience teaching middle schoolers and high schoolers, though not as much as elementary. I am currently an Education major with a minor in history. I am also considering a degree in music and English. Generally I tutor in reading and writing. After receiving my BS I taught high school English for nine years in Vermont and Massachusetts. I earned my MED in 1985 and served as an administrator at both the high school and elementary school levels. I've taught emotionally disturbed children and middle school ESL students in Santa Fe. Most recently I have been tutoring elementary students in language arts and math. For the past five years I've also tutored language arts and math to 1st grade through middle school students after school. My teaching style is to make learning fun. I have always loved children and work hard to make a difference in their lives. I love working with students and teaching languages. I use the communicative approach so that students can hear and learn to understand the language they are learning;By using facial expressions, gestures and other non-verbal cues, I facilitate student comprehension of the target language; I use kinesthetic exercises requiring students to move their bodies to help them acquire the language.
