Experience Summary
While serving as an adviser to the Peer Counselors team at Woodstock Union High School, I was also a substitute teacher from 1994 to 2001 when I moved to NM. I am a published author at Haworth Press/Taylor Francis Publishers of the book Pastoral Care for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder: Healing the Shattered Soul. I have also been a newspaper editor and received an award from the Massachusetts Press Association in the category of Best Editorial. I have tutored my own children in English in an unofficial capacity.
Teaching Style
As a strong advocate of public education, I believe in supporting our educational system. I have been told my effectiveness as a substitute teacher was the result of my respect for the students and my unshakable calmness and patience. Even as a sub, I enjoyed encouraging a love of learning in the students and a sense of curiosity. I also believe that each student has the capacity to work toward achievable goals. I continue to be a life-long learner and enjoy the educational environment.
