Every student is different; some require more help than others. As a teacher I have to find the best way for the child to learn. I want learning to be constructive, but also fun. I have discovered through years of education, that the amount of enthusiasm from an educator can make a huge difference. Therefore as an educator, I need to be patient and always encouraging. Adding details, examples, and stories to a study subject can help many students mentally see what I’m trying to teach. A Little Bit About Me...

Having taught both music and French in a variety of different settings, my teaching style has changed and improved over the years. Today, my teaching is very hands-on and individualized. I strive to make the lessons or tutoring relevant and understandable for each student and give students as many opportunities to participate in their learning as possible, rather than lecturing. I also love to teach using games and creative approaches. For example, when teaching a music theory course to high school students, I designed a card game to help teach the kids how to build scales. My teaching experience began with my work with troubled youth in Michigan. I worked with the Fine Arts Team using the arts to teach visually. I also used positive Peer Culture for helping students to deal with their problems. I slso taught history at the school. I have 8 years experience; I worked for WSI teacher staffing for 3 yrs. and 5 yrs. for the Battle Creek School System in grades K-12 in most subjects
I create a positive atmosphere and help students to be responsible first to themselves and then to their community. I also try to make my students aware of their potiential and guide them in processing information by first understanding the context in which it is used. Then I like to use visuals in my teaching style. I prefer to start with testing of some kind to assess the developmental level of the student.

A Little Bit About Me...

Though my degree is in Music Therapy,I enjoy English and Reading as well. My past seven years working for Measurement Incorporated as a Reader/Scorer for 4th, 5th, 6th and 11th grade writing for several states. This has enabled me to gain an understanding of the writing skills at the elementary level. Therefore, I am most interested in tutoring elementary students in Language Arts.
I would offer a variety of book selections to the students. I would ask the child his or her interests and base the lesson around that as I believe we all learn better if the topic is of interest to us.
