I believe the best teaching style is to pay attention to the needs of the student and work diligently with them to reduce frustration they may be feeling. I am here to help that is my main goal and concern is that the child strengthens their reading abilities.
Love working with children to help enhance their reading ability. I have worked through various reading tutor programs such as Freedom School and One on One Learning. I enjoyed every minute of it! It is important for children to master this skill to be able to function in everyday life situations. I have constructed lesson plans and activities that went along with the book of the week to help with the understanding the plot of the story.

Every child can learn, but they don't all learn the same way

I have been teaching for over 10 years. I am currently a second grade teacher. I tutor during the summers and have students of all ages, including middle school and high school. I believe all children can learn. It takes a special teacher to find out how a child learns and create lessons to engage that learning style. What works for one student doesn't always work for every student. I am a loving and positive teacher by nature. I tutored my high school peers informally (without pay) as the President of the English Club at Guthrie Public High School, but I have recently started tutoring middle grade children as well as high school students. I scored a 31 on my ACT, was awarded the Smithsonian English Award, and I am currently enrolled at the University of Central Oklahoma as a Creative Writing major. My tutoring subjects include English, Reading, Writing Skills, and Study Skills for middle grade children. I also tutor for high school students and college students who need help writing essays, research papers, or preparing for the English and Reading sections of the ACT.
I like to bring worksheets and activities to keep the lessons interesting. I also prefer to assign homework, creative writing prompts, and spelling quizzes to improve writing composition and reading comprehension.

Elementary Tutor
