If you want something bad enough, you must fight for it.

I have always written, and I have always loved doing it. The same goes for reading. I have tutored various class mates through college, and have also worked at a children's enrichment center (I am currently employed there) where I teach basic reading and writing. I am also currently editing a friends novel. I made the Dean's list two years in a row, graduated with the two highest literary awards under my belt, and I have been published in the Equinox and In My Lifetime.
I am patient but firm. If a student isn't willing to put in a 100% effort then I will not waste my time. I have always gotten exemplary grades from anyone I've tutored. I teach each student differently, some are more visual, or auditory, or hands-on, and I adjust my methods to better benefit my students. Bottom line: I will work hard for you, and I expect you to work hard for you too.

Reading Comprehension is one of my top subjects! I am currently attending Harding University to become a Reading Specialist. I am close to graduating, and have been trained in Common Core, have written about and studied the latest research in reading comprehension, and have applied what I have learned in lesson plans, tutoring, and working with students for graduate classes. As a high school English teacher I consistently raised reading comprehension in all of my students. I am a certified English teacher, but I am currently in the process of getting my teaching certificate renewed.

After graduating from high school in 2003, I began to work as a substitute teacher in 2004 for Sheridan School District. I continued working for Sheridan School District as a substitute teacher until around 2008, when I was about to graduate from college. From the fall of 2003 until the end of the summer in 2006 I attended Arkansas State University, where I won first place in the 2003 Freshman Writing Competition. I have worked in two Arkansas public schools in the area of Special Education for the last 20 years. For over half of my career I have been employed as a special education designee/ consultant. I have also completed the Barton Reading and Spelling System training and work with several students. I am in love with how fast this system works to close gaps. I currently am employed as a special education designee where I tutor a few students in Barton, teach and supervise the special education teachers and work on due process compliance. A Little Bit About Me...

For the past year I have worked as a Software Trainer for the Finance department functions such as Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable. I have aways been driven to master new educational challenges and enjoy coaching and training others. I have tutored Basic and Advanced Accounting at the college level a semester when in Memphis, TN.
