I am currently attending Harding University to become a Reading Specialist. I am close to graduating, and have been trained in Common Core, have written about and studied the latest research in reading comprehension, and have applied what I have learned in lesson plans, tutoring, and working with students for graduate classes. As a high school English teacher I consistently raised reading comprehension in all of my students. I have always written, and I have always loved doing it. The same goes for reading. After I graduated high school I went to a community college just to get the feel of college. I decided to major in speech because I was interested in correct speech. Not only how words were pronounced but also what mechanisms that are used to produce correct speech. I went on to Delta State University to pursue my Bachelor's in Speech and Hearing, and might I add they had a spectacular program. I learned a lot more than what makes a person have a speech disorder. I tutored at the local elementary school for two summers straigth and absolutely loved it.
