My teaching style is not typical since I am not a certified teacher. I am creative in my teaching style using a variety of techniques. I understand that each child and person learns differently (Auditory, Visual, Tactile) so I try to discover their style and incorporate as much as possible. I try to teach using real life experiences and examples. I break things down into simple parts before moving on to the next level. At Wilmington College, we had supplemental instruction which is basically a group tutoring session where the leader is chosen by the professor teaching the course. I was a supplemental instructor for five (5) different courses and I was also an individual tutor for the five supplemental instruction classes along with two (2) other courses. I like to teach by example and give the student the opportunity to learn by doing. After 13 years of employment with the Oklahoma City Police Department, I decided to finish my degree, and become a certified teacher. This decision was due to the Police Department recruiting me to teach various computer classes to police officers. I have taught various beginning and advanced computer classes, Algebra II, and business math. I have also tutored students who have failed high school math classes.
