Have tutored peers and younger students starting in high school and continuing throughout my undergraduate. Fundamental understanding is what is most important. Just knowing which equation to use for a certain type of problem will not help a student succeed in future courses. Students should also know that repetition is the best way to master a skill.

My undergraduate degree is in French however I took extensive coursework in mathematics and chemistry and have a good understanding of all the sciences. During my undergraduate studies, I tutored other students in science courses and lead a laboratory course. These were rewarding experiences as I watched my peers learn and thrive in academics. While working toward my Masters in Environmental Science I was able to teach the laboratory portion of an introductory course for two years. This allowed me to develop lesson plans, tests and quizzes and lab activities. I was also able to tutor two very different high school students in French, algebra and geometry, tutoring one-on-one and learning the challenges and rewards of diverse students.

The course involved statistics, math, physics, calculus.

I have received my Bachelors of Science degree in Biology and Honors Thesis Research at Purdue University. I have recently applied to medical school and taken the MCAT. I have experience in college level physics, chemistry, organic chemistry, and extensive experience in college level biology. A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching is very subjective. Each individual learns according to his/her own style. What I find challenging and rewarding is to find that point where it “clicks”. I believe the best way to learn is through experience and discovery. As an example, I can describe the intelligence of an octopus. But until you actually see a video of one opening a jar for a treat, do you truly realize it as a thinking, planning being. Working through problems or lessons with the student by leading them through it, then working it with them side by side while explaining the details helps them achieve the accomplishment of learning without making them feel as if they were just instructed how to do it.
