I have experience working with both audio/visual learners and a kinesthetic/tactile learner. The kinesthetic/tactile learner had learning disabilities akin to ADD, but still did very well in the small group environment. I believe that children who want to learn will do so given the proper setting and sufficient time to succeed. I have very high patience for children who try hard and still struggle, but I do expect the student to give their best effort at each task.

One of my key strengths as a science and math teacher is that after receiving BS & MS chemistry degrees, I’ve spent over 20 years as an industrial scientist (Allied Signal Aerospace, Eastman Kodak, & Ford). A common thread throughout this time has been to recognize the value of a good work ethic, character, and thriving on being a problem solver. As a teacher with the Colorado Department of Corrections for 28 years, I had the opportunity to teach several subjects at several levels. Through my experience I had the opportunity to teach reading at a very fundamental level to adults. I also taught math and English to inmate students studying for their GED. I especially enjoyed the opportunity to teach English as a secondary language to non- English speaking students.
