A Little Bit About Me...

I have always known I have wanted to be a teacher. I do my best to adjust what I am teaching to what my students actually have passion for. I believe that not all students learn the same and that is some thing we need to constantly be adjusting for. As educators we need to work with the things students already know to really help them to succeed.
I am a Math Major at the University of Northern Colorado. I am working on my Secondary Education Licensure in the PTEP (Professional Teacher Education Program) as well. I started to tutor college student while an undergraduate at Mesa State College.I was awarded the GK-12 Fellowship for two years while at the University of Northern Colorado. This fellowship placed me in k-12 classrooms to aid in teaching sciene. During that time I taught kindergarten, second grade, 8th grade, and 9th - 12th grades.Later I was awarded the GAANN Fellowship and continued to teach colleged level Biology. While earning my bachelor's degree, I worked in several tutoring programs assisting students with reading comprehension and writing composition skills. I taught grammar to small groups, read one-on-one with third graders and assisted junior high school students with their homework assignments. Though my degree is in fine art, I began my undergraduate career as an English major. In high school I took both AP English exams and I went on an honors trip to England to study British literature. Also as a high school senior I took sixth place at the state speech tournament with an oratory that I wrote.
