Sign Language is one of my top subjects! I am an American Sign Language Interpreting major graduating this spring with my degree from an Interpreter Training Program. I will also have my License through the Ohio Department of Education after graduation to interpret in schools grades K-12. I am hearing impaired, deaf in my left ear, and have been taking ASL for ten years since losing my hearing.

I have been taking ASL classes for High School and College since losing my hearing in my left ear ten years ago. I enjoy helping individuals learn American Sign Language, and will be graduating with my ASL Interpreting degree this Spring. I have completed all of the ASL Language classes required for my degree.

It is my firm belief that if students have the confidence in themselves to believe they can do well, they will succeed. I believe that there is just not one way to teach because there are many different learning style. Teachers must identify their students' learning styles and find ways to incorporate them into the lesson. I agree with Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences. Some students are auditory learners, while some are visual. Some students are bodily-kinesthetic learners, while some are naturalists. Other students may be interpersonal or intrapersonal learners. I believe that each child learn differently, and as such, I have found the best way to teach is to cater to each child's individual learning style. In working one-on-one with students, I feel as though it is crucial to build a trusting relationship in which the child feels comfortable stating whether or not the teaching style I am using is working for them.
