I am working part time as German instructor with a global Language School. Immersion. My style is German only. The student will receive 3 lifelines in a lesson where he/she can ask a question in English, but 95% of the lesson is in German. I work full time for a German company where I am responsible for translation of product documentation from English to German and vice verse. I am a native German speaker, only immigrated to the US in 1997. As a 2nd job I teach German at a global language school. Since I came to the US I have translated a number of documents for individuals and small businesses. In addition I edit documents for a German translation and documentation company.

I love working with students and teaching them something new. The best feeling is when someone understands a concept that they didn't before; when something "clicks" for a student, I feel as if my job as a tutor was done. I'm a very determined, persistent, caring, and patient person; all of these characteristics have helped me become a great tutor. I think that my teaching style works well for three main reasons. The first of which is my student-centered approach to education. I treat each student as an individual, identifying their strengths and weaknesses and I then use that information to help them achieve their goals. Second, I am passionate about German and language learning. I believe what I’m teaching students are skills that can be applied in many different situations for a lifetime and that makes me more effective. Third, I love getting students to that moment when “things just click” and they are successfully able to form their thoughts in the target language, for instance.
