I am a retired college/university professor, and have been tutoring actively for the last six years (privately, as well as in a mentoring program at a community college). My tutoring experience has focused primarily upon mathematics, statistics, writing, Test Prep (e.g., ACT,SAT, GRE, math placement tests), chemistry and economics. I try to create a fun learning environment, ensuring the youth can ask questions, have flexibility at their learning speed and still master the material in ways that will stay with them. Depending on the subject area, I like to give hypotheticals, questions and real-world examples that will help achieve memorization easier.
After graduating from Georgetown University in Washington D.C., I returned to Wyoming to work in politics and government. A Little Bit About Me...

I'm a 27 year old that accepted a part-time internship in Fort Collins, Colorado. Also, I'm in the process of applying for PHD programs (starting in 2011) in hopes of becoming a professor in the long-run. My teaching style is a mixture of many elements. The first thing I do is to make students enthusiastic about their studies. To give subtle motivation and build interest, I make the topic applicable to a person’s life. The next step is to work on confidence. You have to help students see that it is possible to overcome personal difficulties with specific subjects. I think that learning is subjective. Every person will have the opportunity to learn if they have an instructor that can meet their needs. I work well with children, young adults, and adults. I am patient and attentive. I believe that asking questions is the best way to find and address gaps in understanding and facilitate teaching the appropriate material.
As the graduate of a difficult field of science, I spent a great deal of time studying and developing better methods for studying. I have become very knowledgeable in science and applied science through my degree field. I have also spent much time reading and writing scientific articles, which has made me proficient in English, general literacy, and writing. Throughout my college career, I have been tutoring and leading study sessions in science.
