As a substitute teacher for the past three years, I have experiencing teaching nearly every academic subject. I am a published playwright and have sold over fifteen short scripts for religious one-acts to the Nashville-based Belden Street Music Company. My writing and composition skills are particularly strong, my understanding of grammar is excellent and I have worked extensively in high school English/writing classes. I also held a long term substitute assignment in an Air Force Junior ROTC program in which I taught leadership skills and character building. In addition to my BA in theatre, I minored in journalism/mass communication. I am happily retired at a relatively young age and am seeking an outlet for my skills and abilities that can benefit others. Al though I have never technically tutored or taught a child writing, I am interested in helping aid a child's learning experience. At Hope College I received a liberal arts education. So even though I have a degree in music theatre, I am also well-educated in other fields. I have also worked at the Kalamazoo Civic Theatre as a teacher’s assistant and camp assistant the past three summers. These camps work with kids from ages 9-13.
