A Little Bit About Me...

In College I would form groups to try and study for upcoming test or exams. Doing this it really helped me to learn what I was studying and how other people learn as well.
Patients is a amazing thing to have when trying to teach. Many students learn at a different pace and I feel that finding that pace for every student is important. If you try to cram or learn something to quickly it only become heartache and bad grades.

As a grad assistant in college, I worked for two years teaching students business software programs in a class room environment. I have also been a team leader in an engineering firm (Parsons Brinckerhoff) in which I liased constantly with both the public and field representatives.
I like teaching by example -- that is, a given example of a real world problem that correlates with the subject at hand. I like to first define the objective desired, then work systematically toward achieving every step along the way with the tools at my disposal.

I enjoy working with all learners - no matter the age, child or adult. I enjoy the challenge it brings of figuring out what teaching method works for each individual. In my experience, it takes ingenious and quick thinking to activate the learning potential for some learners. I believe that switching the types of teaching is effective to continue interest on behalf of the learner. In a math example, it is helpful to not work on problems for the entire time. If they can see real life applications for the skills they are learning they will become engaged and enthusiastic.
