I am a doer who has shared his knowledge and experience in a variety of ways. When I worked as a photographer and filmmaker, I taught those subjects at many different institutions, from an after-school program for elementary school kids to NYU Graduate School. For many years now, I have worked as a science writer and editor. I mentor many newly minted Chinese scientists and engineers who work for IBM in Beijing, teaching them both English grammar and the proper form and style for peer-reviewed scientific papers they are writing. I am a very well organized person who can multitask and prioritize extremely well, however to me this important but yet secondary aspect of teaching is next to assisting children develop their social, communication, developmental and learning skills. Creativity in this job is a must and I feel you need to be on the same level as your students to engage them in what you want to teach them. Not all students learn in the same fashion so I feel teaching the same facts but in different ways to target your audience is very key in education.
