Experience Summary
I am a doer who has shared his knowledge and experience in a variety of ways. When I worked as a photographer and filmmaker, I taught those subjects at many different institutions, from an after-school program for elementary school kids to NYU Graduate School. For many years now, I have worked as a science writer and editor. I mentor many newly minted Chinese scientists and engineers who work for IBM in Beijing, teaching them both English grammar and the proper form and style for peer-reviewed scientific papers they are writing. I developed and taught courses in Communications and Technical and Professional Writing for Marist College, Poughkeepsie NY.
Teaching Style
Some people learn by talking, some tactically by doing, some visually by example. It depends on the student, or I devise a presentation that involves all three ways of presenting the information. I believe that learning and understanding the value of what is being learned is as important as the content.
