I have been signing and a part of the Deaf community for over 6 years. I am proficient in American Sign Language and use it on a daily basis in my current position. American Sign Language is a beautiful visual language that cannot be learned through a book. I studied Sign Language Studies focusing on the linguistic aspect as well as Deaf culture.

I have completed required American Sign Language college courses, levels I-V, as well as studies in ASL Linguistics, Deaf Culture, ASL Grammar, etc. I was one of three ASL tutors for my school's ASL program of 110+ students, levels I-IV. I have a Bachelors of Science Degree in American Sign Language-English Interpreting from Keuka College.
Hands-on learning! The first session will be in spoken English. The rest will be voice-off, using only Sign Language and other available resources.

I see that difficulty as being one or two things, they are over achievers and that results in boredom, or they require attention and lack of it results in giving up. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy working with children and providing them with the opportunity to better their education. The smile on a person's face when they understand the material or are able to solve a difficult problem is a great success for myself. I am extremely patient with people of all ages, I like to make sure to talk out everything with the student to get an idea as to their understanding of the material. A Little Bit About Me...

As a student at the University of Detroit Mercy, I worked as a tutor for two years. I helped other students struggling in mathematics and biology classes. Also, my senior year in college I worked as a Teaching Assistant for a Microbiolgy lab. In addition, I did student teaching for a Catholic Middle School.
Many people have different teaching skills and techniques. I do not believe any technique to educate a child is better than any other technique. Each child learns differently. Understanding the fact that children learn differently is crucial. The teacher must be able to adapt to the child's learning style. I believe I have the ability to use an array of teaching styles to help children. I would enjoy the opportunity to help children learn.
