A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated with a teaching degree and taught high school as well as junior high. Since then, I have also been involved with elementary, kindergarten, and one on one reading (volunteer). I recently completed courses in Inclusion and Classroom management. Being involved in post-rehab and fitness, I have experience of working with adults as well. I am quite capapble of dealing with all types and ages of students.

Growing up the son of an English teacher, and a high school principal, education was obviously paramount in the home environment. I graduated from Indiana University with Business Degree, most of my work experience was in training and development of new employees, with a strong emphasis on demonstration, explaination and using real world applications. I believe the best way to teach is to relate the subject to the children. A child may not understand fractions but if you ask them to divide up a candy bar, they know how many pieces they want to split it in to and how many they want. I believe that listening is the key to teaching. A good teacher and a good listener is the difference between a child attending school and a child excelling in school.
While living in Japan, I taught English to the Japanese nationals and was a teacher's aide in the Department of Defense Dependent's Schools in the special needs department.
