I have tutored students in reading programs from first grade to the High School Equivalency program. I also have a B.S. in broadcast journalism and currently am a literacy teacher in the fifth grade at LaFollette Elementary School in Campbell County. I currently tutor a fifth grade student and a first grade student after school but have plenty of time to add to my schedule. I have training in the Balanced Literacy program in which the word study, reading objectives, and writers' workshop are combined in a one and a half hour block of student driven, teacher facilitated activities. I feel each child is unique, so their learning style is unique. I especially enjoy using the explorative method of teaching where the child is encourage to explore, examine, and discover with my assistance.
