I feel that teaching will not only inform young minds to think differently or make them more motivated to learn. But to allow one to master his or her knowledge in general, teaching allows oneself to fully understand the subject in their own minds. Young minds such as children are easily impacted by an adult, which I feel that that should be influenced with positive, enjoyable learning. Allowing a young mind to like learning or studying will allow them to become very motivated individuals in life. I enjoy seeing students make progress, not only in academics, but also in learning life lessons from their study. I believe this is the real vocation of a teacher. Any metods can be used to teach such as TV documentaries, radio, activities and even movies with specific lessons about life. Information is only as good as what it is used for. Therefore, I always make sure the student has formed an opinion about how the material can be used by him/her.
I have taught ESL in China for more than 4 years. Through this experience I have learned that education is mind opening. This is a wonderful thing to cultivate in students and witness the outcome. For the previous 12 years I have enjoyed a career in education. I have taught a variety of subject matter from Reading, History, Science, Math and even Spanish for grade levels ranging from Prek to 11th. I am currently certified in 2 states for Elementary, Middle School and High School grades for Special Education and Language Arts and History.
