I am a kenisthetic learner but when "hands on" is really not an option I (especially with mathematics) draw so that I have a visual, physical representation of the task at hand. I have never had formal experience tutoring. However Throughout my years of schooling I would participate in study groups which I see as everyone tutoring eachother. Phonics is critical to excellent reading. Children are being taught minimal phonics and the focus is on sight reading/ whole language. The issue is that children are being taught to remember what words look like rather than knowing how to use sound and rules to reading in order to figure out words. Children are often guessing words wrong because a word looks similar to another word. I will use, "Phonics Pathways" to teach your child phonics.
