I am Special Education Certified, and know how to work with students with different disabilities. This includes ADHD/ADD problems, Dyslexia, Reading comprehension, Autism, and many others. My daughter is Autistic, has a learning disability, and is Bi-Polar, so I have personal experience with people with disabilities. At present I am tutoring a College Student who is Autistic. I have the patience and understanding plus skills to tutor anyone. I am a seasoned veteran in Education. I taught for 28 years, and was a school counselor for 7 years. For the past 2 1/2 years I have been a substitute teacher, tutor for 5th graders, and part-time counselor for PreK - 5th grade at different Elementary schools in Corpus Christi, TX. I teach to whole group but my favorite is small group or individualized to assist students needs I have taught for 29 years in the areas of Reading and Language Arts in grades 6th-7th- & 8th from 1985-2015 (currently). I have received much training in areas relating to Reading Approaches, Learning Styles, Vocabulay Strategies and Test Taking Skills. I have worked enormous amount of time during my teaching career as an After-School Tutor. I enjoy seeing students succeed after hard work through intervention tutorials. I attended college later in life. Recently, the opportunity arose to better myself. I chose Early Childhood Education and then continued on to obtain my Bachelor's Degree. Following this, I returned to school for Nursing. Eventually, we moved to Texas where I applied,tested and obtained my LCCA License. While in New York State, I was employed through the Alternative Suspension Program as an LVN. While there,I assisted with the teaching of students. This in turn gave me the opportunity to obtain my certification in Teaching. I remained in this position for two years. During this time, I had my own case load of 5-8 students grade 7-12. Following this position, I was employed at a tutor for those youth who were home bound.

Achieving a BA in history from TAMUCC has taught me to peer further into investigations of any sort. It has provided me with the tools that allow me to critically analyze situations and arguments. Being able to critically analyze different perspectives gives me the ability to discover different conclusions to arguments or problems. This degree has also honed in my reading and writing skills to that of a scholar's level. While attending TAMUCC, I often found my self helping others understand the complex arguments in our philosophy classes. I accredit this to my skills acquired while doing extensive analytical research for history essays theories. Explaining, showing, teaching, have always been something that I enjoyed doing.
