Speaking is one of my top subjects! I consider myself a great public speaker. I recently passed Ball State Universtity's communications and public speaking course with an A and could help anyone do the same!

I am in my third year at Ball State University. I recently changed my major from Biology to Accounting; therefore, I have lots of knowledge in many different areas - some that aren't listed on my profile. I am experienced in categories ranging from Biology to Accounting to baking. I won several Grand Champion awards in Indiana's Madison County 4-H program for Baking and Woodworking while I have A's in Chemistry, Accounting, Biology, Spanish, Calculus, and many many other subjects from Ball State University. Speaking is one of my top subjects! I am very experienced in public speaking. I have taken college level classes on public speaking. I have also held many leadership positions which require me to speak to many people in public settings.

I am currently a senior at Indiana Univeristy Kokomo. I will graduate in spring 2013 with a B.A. in Psychology and minors in Leadership Studies as well as International Studies/Relations. My college coursework has a focus on psychology but my degree requires me to have a very liberal education, as such, I have taken classes in english, history, sciences, economics, government, and many others. I am a student leader and have been for the past two years. I am currently Student Body President of IU Kokomo and represent over 3,000 students. Past leadership expereices include being psychology club treadurer and president, orientation leader, and student senator. I have supplemented my college education by working on a behavioral/mental health unit. I have also done research with one of IU Kokomo's psychology professors, and am currently a teaching assistant for another psychology professor.

Currently I am employed as a home-based Family Specialist in Social Work. I teach parenting to persons in their homes. As I teach adults new parenting methods, I also teach children how to respond more appropriately to their parents, thus creating a win/win situation. My teaching style is one of friendly leadership. Working through problems or lessons with the student by leading them through it, then working it with them side by side while explaining the details helps them achieve the accomplishment of learning without making them feel as if they were just instructed how to do it. Helping a student learn is more than just teaching them a lesson in math, science, or English; it’s about being someone that they can look up to as a role model, being someone that they can learn from in more than just an academic manner, and being someone who is there for them when they need something. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been working in commercial banking for the past two years. Through my every day work experience I deal with a lot of accounting and financial statement analysis and spreading. I also further my education in accounting by taking classes offered at Anderson University.
My teaching style is very casual. I enjoy building a strong relationship with the people I teach to allow them to be comfortable and not feel uneasy to ask questions if they do not understand something. I have been teaching children for almost ten years through volunteering. I am enjoy children and their ability to learn and grasp new concepts at such a quick pace.

Taught college courses on a part-time basis from 1976 to 2006. These various courses included accounting, business math, real estate, budgeting, strategic planning, starting a business, public speaking, investments, government accounting, principles of supervision, human resource development, auditing, and taxation. While teaching I eventually retired from the US Air Force, and from US Civil Service. As a retiree I find that I plenty of time to devote to outside activities and wish to assist others in as many ways as possible.
