As a graduate from one of the top PhD programs in the country, I have a breadth of experience in chemistry. At Texas A&M I specialized in organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry and polymer chemistry. My teaching experience includes polymer chemistry, organic chemistry and freshman chemistry classes. My tutoring experience includes 4 years of tutoring both freshman chemistry and organic chemistry. In high school, I tutored mathematics at Alexander Children's Center. Many of the children were abused at home, creating difficult challenges initially. However, I was able to work through some of these challenges by creating a calm and understanding environment, but also by establishing a routine. Today, I continue to volunteer at the Center as a basketball coach and can honestly say that I love working with children. I realize that tutoring for children without emotional problems will be entirely different, but I believe the fundamentals of my approach will improve the performance of my students.
