I worked in the Finance Industry (UBS Financial, and Wachovia securities). Also I have taught as an adjunct faculty in University of Saint Thomas, Metro State University, and various community colleges. I taught various economics, and finance classes. Also I taught developmental math to community college students. I have also taught my two children. My older son is graduating with degrees in Mathematics and Economics from University of Minnesota. My younger child is an eighth grader. He is doing pre-calculus in eighth grade. Pre-calculus is studied in eleventh or twelfth grade. I work with my younger son very closely. I have teaching and tutoring experience at the high school and college level. I love expanding their minds and sharing my knowledge with them. I will be a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Superior in just a few short weeks with my degree in English and Communications. A Little Bit About Me...

This year I taught math at Community of Peace Charter school in St. Paul, MN. I taught 3 sections of 8th grade math to a very diverse student population. Approximately 25% of the students receive ESL services outside of the math class, therefore I learned the difficulties that these students have with math vocab and context situations. I dealt with the broad range of math skills by running a math workshop model during the classroom blocks. This was very successful and was well liked by the students.
I am not a 'stand and lecture' type of teacher. Students learn best by trying math skills by themselves or working with other students. I use web math applets frequently and math video clips which appeals to the digital-native students of today.

I primarily use a question-and-answer technique. I am very adept at identifying when a student's understanding of a subject is not where it should be. I'm also an expert in using examples to explain a point. Especially when explaining technical things I can use non-technical examples to offer enlightenment. For example, while helping one of my sons learn college calculus I related first differentials to a police officer detecting speeders. While attending and completing four years of Education courses at a well respected institution I was focused and driven to complete the curriculum and focus on creative lesson planning.
