I believe in creating value to the learners. It is not enough to repeat, or write what is in a text book. The job of a teacher is to create interest of the students in the subject being learned. I use different examples, and show how the the material being learned is relevant to a real world problem.
I worked in the Finance Industry (UBS Financial, and Wachovia securities). Also I have taught as an adjunct faculty in University of Saint Thomas, Metro State University, and various community colleges. I taught various economics, and finance classes. A Little Bit About Me...

I am not a 'stand and lecture' type of teacher. Students learn best by trying math skills by themselves or working with other students. I use web math applets frequently and math video clips which appeals to the digital-native students of today.
This year I taught math at Community of Peace Charter school in St. Paul, MN. I taught 3 sections of 8th grade math to a very diverse student population. Approximately 25% of the students receive ESL services outside of the math class, therefore I learned the difficulties that these students have with math vocab and context situations. I dealt with the broad range of math skills by running a math workshop model during the classroom blocks. This was very successful and was well liked by the students.

My tutoring style usually depend on the person I am tutoring, however the following is my basic beliefs, which guide my teaching methods. I believe that you can make any subject matter easy by focusing on the basics and relating the subject matter to things the student can identify with. This allows the student to not become overwhelmed and more acceptable to the subject matter. In addition, I believe that the students should be challenged and encouraged to reiterate what you teach them.
