How do I summarize teaching in my life? I guess the best way to explain my teaching experience is to tell you a story. As a young girl I wanted to be a teacher. Because of my love of learning I taught all my siblings how to read. I know it is pretty funny but it is a true story. That led to my doing teaching seminars, which led to consulting, which led to training, which led to my working with individuals as a life coach. My broad-based educational background gives me a firm foundation for interacting with students on a variety of levels. I have taught both French and Mathematics at the college level, have tutored Math, Physics and Chemistry at the college level, and have substituted in high schools and junior highs as well. I am a retired engineer who has been substitute teaching for about 4 years including several long term positions. I have a BS in Mechanical Engineering and a MS in teaching with addition coursework in Electrical Engineering and Math. My tutoring experience started in Adirondack Community College’s math lab where I was helping a wide variety of students get through their math classes.
I try to adapt my teaching style to the student. I keep trying different methods until we find what works best. I've had a deep enthusiasm for mathematics and physics since an early age, when my father, a professor of physics at Dartmouth College, introduced me to the beauty and elegance of the principles underlying these fields.
