More About This Tutor...

i take a more relaxed route of teaching. i have found that if you sit there and point out faults and appear like you expect them to get it right on the first try it will turn the student away from you and cause them to hate the subject and ultimately fail. i take a more friendly route. talk about myself admit faults that i have when they appear. i try to become friends with the student in question and add fun with learning. if there is something specific that is needed extra attention to i will ask them to do the problem and point out there faults. i do not do everything for them. i let them test there knowledge and provide support when needed.
For 11 years that i have been in school i have excelled in the fields shown and have helped my friends and others succeed in those fields. Most of the kids that i have helped have passed there classes and have gone to excel in higher classes ... read more

Biology is one of my top subjects! Biology in general is one of my specialty. I took biology as my major and I did love it. I have tutored general biology for 4 years in college.

I have had experience as tutor for the last four years tutoring college students in Biology, College Algebra, Chemistry and Anatomy. I use to help students who had difficulty on their assignments, projects and those who struggle with their course subjects. More About This Tutor...

As a teacher with the Colorado Department of Corrections for 28 years, I had the opportunity to teach several subjects at several levels. Through my experience I had the opportunity to teach reading at a very fundamental level to adults. I also taught math and English to inmate students studying for their GED. I especially enjoyed the opportunity to teach English as a secondary language to non- English speaking students. I helped develop and teach an English grammar curriculum for a Corrrectional staff class. In 2005 I was honored by my peers to be given the Correctional Teacher of the year for a 5 state region.
Some of my most rewarding times in life have been those when I help a student understand a concept that has bewildered him. I am usually able to find a unique way to make the student think about his learning. I try to teach to mastery. I don't believe efficient learni ... read more

I have experience working with both audio/visual learners and a kinesthetic/tactile learner. The kinesthetic/tactile learner had learning disabilities akin to ADD, but still did very well in the small group environment. I believe that children who want to learn will do so given the proper setting and sufficient time to succeed. I have very high patience for children who try hard and still struggle, but I do expect the student to give their best effort at each task.
I earned a Bachelor of Science from The Ohio State University in 1984. My subjects of passion were math and science and I enjoy working with children who struggle in those areas. I have home schooled my son through the end of 12th grade and he was ready for college freshman classes at age 15. Starting in his second grade year, we were joined by a student who has learning disabilities. He also thrived in the tutori ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been teaching guitar lessons for a year now. I have just graduated from Colorado State University Pueblo with my Bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts. In my education at CSU I have also acquired six credit hours in education classes and observed 60 hours in public schools.
In my experience as a musician, I have found that teaching a subject I love can really inspire students to excel. It's necessary to spread our knowledge to others. My specialty is music, but I love to teach in general because kids need good mentors. Each child is different so I use an individualized approach to my teaching styles. We all learn differently whether we are auditory, visual, or kinesthetic learners. I asses the student and provide the material/exercises necessary in order to create the best learning experience possible.

I have recently retired from the U.S. Army as a medic. During my service, I was frequently responsible for both formal and informal teaching and training. I learned to easily adapt to various learning styles, learning barriers, and researching subjects. While still in the service, I utilized my lunch breaks and evenings to further my education and emerged with my AA and completed Nurse Assistant training while still serving and my BS only one year later; two months after retiring. Currently, I am working on my MS in Health Promotion with a certificate in Disaster in Public Health. I am capable of producing a lesson and effectively teaching any subject.
I am very adaptive. I accept challenges warmly. I love working with children; I teach at my church at the elementary level weekly. I also enjoy working with adults in a non-threatening way. I am a patient person and know tha ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

When working towards my teaching certification I was in many classrooms from Kindergarten to 12th Grade in Pueblo School District 60. After graduation I applied and got a teaching job and I taught at Skyview Middle School in District 49 for 4 years teaching Ancient Civilizations. Before that I was a substitute in District 8, 2, 3, 60, 48 all southern Colorado school districts.
I am a holistic teacher who likes for students to experience the subject. For example I would have student immerse themselves into the subject of history and complete a project and present it to the other students. It was really successful and had students waiting all year.

I am practical and to the point. I explain the occurrence and give examples. Once I see the students grasp the concept or idea that we are discussing, then I give them more to build on the subject. I enjoy interactions and questions because it helps seal the information. As well, in the traditional style of how school is presented I like out loud repetition because it activates the memory brain pathways which helps with maximal retention. In my experience, making a subject come to life is the only way to teach.
I was very interested in the science field early on through secondary school. My interest grew through undergraduate where I was heavy in research and tutoring introductory science courses such as survey of biochemistry and introduction to biology. As well, I mentored a group of school in the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources on day to day activ ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Most of my career experience has been in News-Editorial and creative writing. As my daughter and son (now young adults) have grown and matured, I have been involved at several levels and in various paid and volunteer capacities as teacher, assistant/aide, and tutor. My substitute teaching experience primarily has been in the subjects of English, social studies, music, math, and art.
I am patient, kind, respectful, and good-humored. I have noted that my own excitement in learning is contagious. I believe each of us excels in individual areas of particular interest. I support self-esteem, self-respect, and respect for others, and I think these qualities and values are self-motivating. I learn, as well, from those whom I teach.
