A Little Bit About Me...

I am very dynamic personable adult who loves to laugh, but also knows how to get down to business and get work done. I think it is very important to not only feed information to your student, but also to create a relationship them. This helps the student to feel comfortable so they can ask questions, even those they may feel to be stupid. I have been able to teach non-technical elderly adults computers and teens that had no interest in religion by creating a relaxed atmosphere and attempting to make the subjects interesting, relevant and fun. I believe one of the keys of effective teaching is making things as interactive as possible, trying to get students to teach themselves as we proactively guide them through subjects.

I am currently a graduate student at Wright State University majoring in English Literature. I am also a Graduate Teaching Assistant (GTA) for the English Department and have developed a deep admiration for working closely with students. I have circled myself with music my entire life. I began playing clarinet at age ten, and during my college years I studied music theory and composition while majoring at piano. I am often complimented on my ability how to teach others music parts and instruction. I am slow and precise with the student to understand not only each segment of instruction but the why and how it fits into the music.
