A Little Bit About Me...

I have been tutoring mathematics in the Cincinnati area since 1997. I have worked with students ranging from elementary school through college level. From 2010-2014, I taught math and science full time at a local Catholic school. In Fall of 2014, I completed my student teaching at a local high school. In January 2015,I received my MA in Math Education along with my state teaching certification. The subjects that I have taught include: elementary math, pre-algebra, algebra, pre-calculus, calculus, trigonometry, geometry, statistics, general chemistry, and physics.

I stress that students understand fundamental terms and definitions, since trouble in problem solving and school exams is often rooted in confusion about basic terminology and rules involved in vector math, momentum, etc. Can tutor either one on one or in small groups. Physics is one of my top subjects!

I currently am a senior at the University of Cincinnati studying Computer Science. Before my freshman year I was a part of the summer bridge program as a part of Emerging Ethnic Engineers through which community service plays a large pay role. Each summer during my college career I would assist the incoming summer bridge students with their studies which include a rigorous math and science curriculum. My personal favorite topic to assist with is physics. Furthermore, during the school year we would partake in math help nights where we would assist K-12 with problems they are having in their subjects.
I prefer a more open style to assisting students, where I go over their work issues and try to spark a conversation through which I can get a better understanding of the students reasoning.

A Little Bit About Me...

I worked as a Graduate Assistant when I completed my Ph.D. I have helped my daughters with their studies in school after that. My older daughter is now in college. I work full-time in the IT industry and would like to tutor part-time in the evenings or on week-ends in Math and Physics. It is a way for me to keep in touch with academics while helping students.
I was lucky to have had excellent teachers in school. Whenever I see students struggle, I want to show them a way by which they can understand the concept. I do feel with some effort and reiteration, students can understand and grow in confidence. The reason most of them find a subject difficult is because they don't understand it. Once they start understanding, they will experience a joy when they get a problem right. With time, this will translate into a love for the subject.
