Elementary Math is one of my top subjects!

I have helped tutor AVID high school students when I was a senior at Cherry Creek High School. I enjoy helping the kids learn and believe that being a tutor would pay it forward since I had so much help from tutors. I always helped my friends out because I was in higher level classes than them some of the times. I also worked with tutors and know how much of a difference they can make. I'm currently studying at CSU and still work with friends on homework if they need help.

I have raised a mentally disabled child and assisted in her education. I have home-schooled three children for brief periods to assess their abilities when the schools graded them lower than their abilities. I discovered one is a genius (MENSA material) with a writing problem, another has a photographic mind, the third could speed read naturally. I spent time building their confidence that they had lost in the classroom. They were caught up to their current grade at the time and advanced 2 of them ahead a year in one year.

When I was in high school I had a lot of anxiety about math. I went back to college late in life and I was terrified that I would have to take a few math courses to graduate. It wasn't long before math was my favorite class and I changed my major. When I was in school I helped a lot of my classmates with calculus. Need a fun, compassionate, patient, and understanding tutor?

I tend to use the socratic method a lot to help my students arrive at their own conclusions and understanding of material, paired with some basic, interactive instruction when students do not already understand some of the material involved.
