I believe that flashcards as well as games help younger children succeed in mastering a subject. Making a subject fun is key to helping a child tackle a tough subject. Instead of telling the student the correct answer, I prefer to help them understand why the answer is correct. With writing, there can be better ways to word a sentence or rearrange a paragraph and I try to help them figure this out on their own. That way, the next time they run into a similar issue, they remember how they improved their writing the previous time.
