A Little Bit About Me...

I assist the Reading Center Directors in assessing area public school K-12 students at-risk in reading and writing. The information is used to identify areas of literacy strength, as well as areas of need. I design and implement differentiated one-on-one instruction based on individual student needs, and conduct formative assessments regularly to determine student progress to share this information with the parents and schools.
I have earned two bachelors degrees, BS in Accounting and BA in Early Childhood Education with an endorsement in Reading. I have also earned a Masters in Business Adminstration. After 13 years of employment with the Oklahoma City Police Department, I decided to finish my degree, and become a certified teacher. This decision was due to the Police Department recruiting me to teach various computer classes to police officers. I have taught various beginning and advanced computer classes, Algebra II, and business math. I have also tutored students who have failed high school math classes. Each student I have tutored has brought their grade up to at least a "C" average (from a failing score). One student I tutored enrolled in a class at OU for high school credit (Algebra II). After failing his class in his high school setting, he received an A one semester and a B the other.
