As a student attending Florida State University's Civil Engineering program I was required to regularly learn, understand and apply complex mathematical equations, and scientific concepts to both hypothetical and real world problems. I was also required to regularly exercise my grammatical skills through regular lab reports. In regards to tutoring experience, as a high school student attending A.C. Mosley High School during my senior year it was requested by a M.A.P.P.S. A Little Bit About Me...

I began my teaching experience during college by first working as a teacher’s aide, after which I transitioned into substitute teaching, tutoring and after school care. Eventually I graduated and worked in elementary education as a teacher. I chose to continue my education and become an engineer. Since then, I have continued to volunteer through tutoring, Kiwanis, organizing a math competition for the schools within a five county region (MATHCOUNTS) and occasionally reading for afterschool programs.
Throughout my education experience, I was taught that whole learning is the best form of education. An education is not just gained through books; every life experience is capable of teaching a child. I try to meet my student’s needs by listening and patiently repeating a problem until concepts are grasped and applied. I am at ease working with students who view math as their worst subject and need to have concepts explained in various ways. In each of the math topics I review with a student I try to merge its mathematical and scientific history into the session to help make it more relevant to each student.
I have fourteen years of instructional experience teaching mathematics and statistics at the college and community college level, and two years teaching secondary mathematics. My teaching experience is enhanced with eleven years of industrial exposure in the defense field. I also hold a teaching certificate to teach math and science in the state of Colorado where I taught and tutored at the middle school and high school level.
