Painting is one of my top subjects! In addition to my hands on experience copying the art work of the major artists of past and present, I was recently a docent at the Leepa-Rattner Museum located in Tarpon Springs for a period of 18 months.

In my teaching, I make every effort to engage the attention of my students. While covering the subject at hand, I bring into my lessons references to a spectrum of other subjects when relevant such as historical context, cultural elements, literary allusions, modern and historical implications and facts and trivia relating to the subject which I believe will not only be of interest to the student but will also provide a more rounded appreciation of the benefits of a wide ranging education.
For the greater part of my life I have been involved in various facets of education. I have acted as substitute teacher at the middle and high school levels for a total of 10 years, 8 of which were spent at 12 schools in Vermont and 2 at 10 schools in Hernando County FL. I held the position of Senior ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) with a highly reputed language school in Vienna ... read more

It is my belief that everyone is able to learn, and what produces that ability is having support. So many instructors give up on those not favored as "prized" students, and in turn, these students just slide through. I know it takes time and effort to get some students enthused about education, and I make it my goal to help them with this.
I have been working as a private tutor from my home or student's home for 3 years. I have tutored elementary through college level students. I have also tutored in College Algebra, elementary math, Biology, and Reading. I speak conversational French, and am able to teach up to the secondary level.

Additionally, I worked with Martin Porres Educational Services and the No Child Left Behind Program. During my years of tutoring I have assisted students in Psychology, Statistics, math courses up to Calculus, basic science classes, reading, English, computer courses, and nursing courses (relating to mathematics).

I feel very strongly about a differential approach to my teaching methods. I believe every child is different and learns differently then the next child. I feel confident in developing a lesson plan that can be diverse enough to meet each and every child’s gifts and disadvantages. My life is dedicated to teaching and I hope that I will be able to teach for a very long time. My hopes are to eventually acquire a PhD in Education.
I have attended CFCC and FCCJ. I am currently attending Liberty University for my Bachelor in Education. I have been teaching for about 7 years and through that time I have learned an extensive amount not only through in-services and training classes, but through my colleagues. I feel very confident in my ability to reach children that feel that they just can't get it. I have two children of my own, which I homeschooled for a year. My daughter, who is 13 yea ... read more

I initially try to find what he/she is struggling with, and what strengths and weaknesses are present. I allow the person to ask questions in a fluid, spontaneous, "let's see as we tackle this together" manner. When something is not understood, I try to give analogies, examples that the person can relate to. I also may explain the subject matter in a more simplified, methodical fashion. I believe learning can be made appealing, if you find out how the person operates. Learning is the key to just about everything, so I take seriously the importance of assisting someone in the tutoring field.
In my college curriculum and internships, I experienced and observed a great deal about people and various styles of processing information. That is, every person has a rather unique way of learning. I would think the most important point to tap into, when tutoring someone, would be to disc ... read more

At Keystone College in (LaPlume, PA) I took 3 years of Accounting,Legal Math which involved learning descriptions of court & legal proceedings,Business math, which was all about owning a business. Marketing, psychology, discussing right & left side of brains, Freud, Physical gym, learning all about the human body, and also English I & II which included reading, discussing what the author meant to tell, essays & proper grammer. I really enjoyed all of the classes. However Accounting was perhaps the most challenging, exciting and worthwhile to me.
I enjoy teaching young and pre-teen children. They are so eager to learn. I have grandchildren which I have helped. I tend to lean more to art now, however I still like to sit down & help with math, reading, english and other courses. When there are no distractions, I can get one on one with a child and help them to learn better. Getting to ... read more

I am fascinated with the concept that the more senses you utilize in teaching the better the child learns and retains what was taught. Some children respond to verbal teaching, while others prefer visual teaching, or others like to interact with their environment (the hands on approach). Each child has their own language. I believe that a teacher must do whatever is necessary to reach the student so that he can learn. Learning should be fun and enjoyable! I love seeing a child understand a new concept; it is like learning all over again. Today, few students and for that matter parents enjoy mathematics. Mathematics would best be taught by those who love it so they can pass their love of the subject onto their students.
Although I have a well-rounded education, most of my knowledge and work experience is in mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus plus the r ... read more
