Painting is one of my top subjects! In addition to my hands on experience copying the art work of the major artists of past and present, I was recently a docent at the Leepa-Rattner Museum located in Tarpon Springs for a period of 18 months.

In my teaching, I make every effort to engage the attention of my students. While covering the subject at hand, I bring into my lessons references to a spectrum of other subjects when relevant such as historical context, cultural elements, literary allusions, modern and historical implications and facts and trivia relating to the subject which I believe will not only be of interest to the student but will also provide a more rounded appreciation of the benefits of a wide ranging education.

I initially try to find what he/she is struggling with,and what strengths and weaknesses are present. I allow the person to ask questions in a fluid, spontaneous, "let's see as we tackle this together" manner. When something is not understood, I try to give analogies, examples that the person can relate to. I also may explain the subject matter in a more simplified, methodical fashion. I believe learning can be made appealing, if you find out how the person operates. At Keystone College in (LaPlume, PA) I took 3 years of Accounting,Legal Math which involved learning descriptions of court & legal proceedings,Business math, which was all about owning a business. Marketing, psychology, discussing right & left side of brains, Freud, Physical gym, learning all about the human body,and also English I & II which included reading, discussing what the author meant to tell, essays & proper grammer. I really enjoyed all of the classes. However Accounting was perhaps the most challenging, exciting and worthwhile to me.

I am fascinated with the concept that the more senses you utilize in teaching the better the child learns and retains what was taught. Some children respond to verbal teaching, while others prefer visual teaching, or others like to interact with their environment (the hands on approach). Each child has their own language. I believe that a teacher must do whatever is necessary to reach the student so that he can learn. Learning should be fun and enjoyable!
