My comments on tutoring Study Skills : I have constantly balanced being an excellent student with being an athlete. In my senior year of high school I took 6 AP classes while playing varsity volleyball and playing for a volleyball club requiring 20 hrs/week. In college I was a psychology major, taking pre-med courses, and playing/working for the women's D1 volleyball team 30 hrs/week. I also successfully spent the last summer studying for and taking the MCAT. These experiences have necessitated that I develop excellent study skills in order to accomplish all of my academic goals.

I have succeeded as a Pre-Med student and psychology major while playing for the University of Colorado D1 women’s volleyball team and thus developed excellent study skills. Since then I worked for the City of Boulder as a tennis instructor for 7 more years and I coached tennis to individual tennis players, mostly promising junior players, for an additional 4 years. My style is patient, respectful, fair and adaptive. The goal is to find what works well for the student, not take a rigid one-size-fits-all approach that a classroom may employ. I start looking right away for “What is missing?” I have seen many students who are perfectly capable but struggle because they missed a fundamental building block. Learning is always difficult.
