I am a certified Sign Language interpreter and have interpreted for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students of all ages for the last 14 years. As part of my job description, I was a tutor to these same students. For the last 3 years, I had to take on the role of teaching to a middle school aged Deaf student due to lack of Deaf Education teachers for most of his academic day. I am hard of hearing myself and know sign language for use of communication. This will vary depending on what student is working on (subjects/projects) and their level of education are. I have worked with the hearing impaired students for three years VIA Tulsa Community College Work-Study. The subjects I have work with them are Reading and/or Math. Started March 2014, I am working with Broken Arrow Public Schools as a Substitute Teacher. This may be some elementary classes; but, mostly Secondary level.
