I have a Bachelors in Applied Arts and Sciences from Texas State University and worked as an interpreter for a Regional Day School Program for the Deaf in Texas for 14 years and much of that time was in the elementary school setting. My job description as an interpreter included being a teacher's aid and a tutor. I interpreted all subjects and so I am very familiar working with students at this age. Because I was in the general educational classrooms I not only tutored the Deaf students, I also tutored the hearing students who needed help. |
I am a certified Sign Language interpreter and have interpreted for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students of all ages for the last 14 years. As part of my job description, I was a tutor to these same students. For the last 3 years, I had to take on the role of teaching to a middle school aged Deaf student due to lack of Deaf Education teachers for most of his academic day.
I also have experience with Deaf and H of H students that had other disabilities such as: Low cognitive Ability, Blindness, Charge syndrome, Autism, Obstinate Defiance Disorder and Emotional Disability.
I also am able to tutor High School and College students who need help learning American Sign Language. |
