Experience Summary
Since I was very young I tutored my brother on many occasions in reading and math. I believe everyone has a gift, and I knew that teaching was that gift for me. For 32 years I spent many hours in the classroom helping children to succeed. Not only was this succeeding in academics, but also in self-esteem as well. I spent time after school tutoring in elementary math and reading. My philosophy includes the fact that every child can succeed. I teach with hands-on learning using all of the senses. I love teaching.
Teaching Style
Hands-on with visuals and manipulatives. Kids learn by doing and actively engaging themselves in learning. This is a good picture of my teaching style. I love teaching children with a robust flavor of learning. Make it fun, and children usually will remember how they have learned a new skill. I taught fifth grade for many years and was always the testing grade for the state of Oklahoma. I have many years of experience in preparing students for testing.
