Helping students be successful is the most important aspect of teaching, in my opinion. Each student is unique in his or her learning style. A teacher's job is to find the way in which a student learns best and to encourage them to think on their own. Next, my goal is to make clear the basic concept of the theory or formula that needs to be applied to the problem. This is probably the most crucial step in that it is very important to make a connection between reality and being able to measure or quantify the problem and that it makes sense. I have always loved to teach and have been told by my children that I should have been a teacher. When it comes to math I have found that most people who have trouble with math have simply missed some fundamental along the way. It is extremely rewarding to figure out what that is and fill in that hole. I teach by breaking problems down and asking easier questions that lead to the answer.
