I am very passionate about educating others and have used my two Education degrees (Bachelor’s and Master’s) to work with students of all levels, especially in math. In my three years of full-time teaching experience, I have taught 6th grade math, 8th grade math, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-calculus, Trigonometry, and AP Calculus. Additionally, I have two years of experience tutoring elementary students in reading and writing, as well as volunteering many hours to help run educational programs for elementary through college age students.

While serving as an adviser to the Peer Counselors team at Woodstock Union High School, I was also a substitute teacher from 1994 to 2001 when I moved to NM. I am a published author at Haworth Press/Taylor Francis Publishers of the book Pastoral Care for Post-traumatic Stress Disorder: Healing the Shattered Soul. I have also been a newspaper editor and received an award from the Massachusetts Press Association in the category of Best Editorial. After receiving my BS I taught high school English for nine years in Vermont and Massachusetts. I earned my MED in 1985 and served as an administrator at both the high school and elementary school levels. I've taught emotionally disturbed children and middle school ESL students in Santa Fe. Most recently I have been tutoring elementary students in language arts and math. For the past five years I've also tutored language arts and math to 1st grade through middle school students after school.
My teaching style is to make learning fun. I like to bring materials to the lesson that match a student's interest and still build necessary skills. My middle school students became experts at poetry and grammar with daily competitions. Practice is imperative to learning, is my theory, and the key to the success I've had with students.
