My comments on tutoring Geography : I have taught advanced geography for many years.

I have retred after 33 years of teaching. 32 years of primarily teaching history or social studies subjects. I also have 15 years of teaching in schools for the deaf, there is some overlap of deaf education and social studies education. I am National Board Certified as a teacher. I am a fluent ASL and Sign Language user.

I have served as a substitute teacher in Hayward, CA for 1 1/2 years. I worked as a tutor for Learning & Loving It in San Jose, CA for 3 years. I served as a tutor and teacher of adult education in Loganville, GA for 1 year. I am currently on the substitute teacher roster for the Vicksburg School District, and I have been so for two years.
I first introduce myself and get to know a little about the student I am tutoring. Then, I establish a baseline of what they have learned so that I can direct my attention to their strengths and weaknesses. I believe that most students can do well in History or other subjects if they are taught the subject material and studying skills. In the past, I worked at a school for high school boys who had failed in school or who had trouble with the law.
